Balancing heritage and modernity at Haileybury

Schoolblazer is delighted to supply uniform and sportswear to Haileybury School from September 2023.

A educational establishment has existed on Haileybury’s site since 1806, with the College as it is today emerging in 1862. Notable alumni include writer and poet Rudyard Kipling, post-war Prime Minister Clement Attlee, and film director Christopher Nolan.

When the leadership team at Haileybury decided to update their uniform, they wanted a provider that could deliver on the significant changes they envisioned, along with an improvement in quality, without losing sight of their illustrious heritage. Schoolblazer was known to the team thanks to their presence at industry events, and was chosen, following a tender process, for their ambition and ability to deliver a new style.

Haileybury’s previous uniform included tartan skirts for girls and striped shirts and blouses, along with grey trousers for boys. Though distinctive, the leadership team wanted to update the design and incorporate more modern elements, keeping the navy jackets and blazers but introducing some modernity and a fresh look.

The new uniform is predominantly navy with burgundy accents, such as the blazer lining, and includes a subtle windowpane check for trousers. Girls have the option of trousers or a culotte rather than skirts. A blue textured shirt maintains distinction, but creates a softer look than stripes.

The school has also adopted Limitless sportswear, again in a navy and burgundy colourway that complements their uniform. Haileybury places emphasis on a holistic education and making sure every student leaves a well-rounded individual; high-quality kit not only looks great, but will keep students comfortable as they train, making it easier for everyone to get involved and perform at their best.

Deputy Master Simon Heard says, “We were impressed by the collaborative process we shared with Schoolblazer – the team were open to suggestions and discussions on all aspects of the garments. We’ve had a fantastic response to uniform, sportswear and teamwear, with parents and most importantly pupils impressed by both the style and the quality.”
